Al-Isra (17:23)

And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age while with you, say not to them a word of disrespect and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.

Virtue

Quranic verse directly linking obedience to Allah with good conduct toward aging parents. The Prophet ﷺ said that kindness to parents is among the most beloved deeds to Allah.

Tafsir

Allah places the command of kindness toward parents immediately after the command of exclusive worship. This verse insists on absolute respect for parents in their old age, forbidding even a simple sigh of impatience, and ordering noble and respectful words toward them.
