Morning Adhkar

Invocations after Fajr prayer

1
Sourate Al-Baqarah (2:255)

Allahu la ilaha illa Huwa, Al-Hayyul-Qayyum. La ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa la nawm. Lahu ma fis-samawati wa ma fil-ard. Man dhal-ladhi yashfa'u 'indahu illa bi-idhnih. Wasi'a kursiyyuhus-samawati wal-ard. Wa la ya'uduhu hifdhuhuma. Wa Huwal-'Aliyyul-'Adhim.

Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them. And they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Virtue

Whoever recites it in the morning will be protected from the jinn until the evening.

Tafsir

Ayat Al-Kursi is the greatest verse in the Quran. It affirms Allah's absolute oneness, His sovereignty over the heavens and earth, and His infinite knowledge. Reciting it in the morning places the believer under divine protection from all harm and from the jinn until the evening.

Sourate Al-Baqarah (2:285-286)

Amanar-Rasulu bima unzila ilayhi mir-Rabbihi wal-mu'minun. Anta Mawlana fansurna 'alal-qawmil-kafirin.

The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so have the believers. All of them have believed in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. 'We make no distinction between any of His messengers.' And they said: 'We hear and we obey. Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the final return.' Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear. It will have what it has earned, and it will bear what it has earned. 'Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, do not place upon us a burden like that which You placed upon those before us. Our Lord, do not burden us with that which we have no ability to bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy upon us. You are our Protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.'

Virtue

Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him.

Tafsir

These last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah are a summary of Islamic faith. They express total submission to Allah, belief in all His messengers, and contain powerful supplications asking for forgiveness and relief from burdens. The Prophet ﷺ said they suffice whoever recites them at night, ensuring divine protection and sufficiency.

Sourate Al-Ikhlas (112:1-4)

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim. Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad. Allahus-Samad. Lam yalid wa lam yulad. Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born. Nor is there to Him any equivalent.

Virtue

Reciting the three surahs (Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas) three times in the morning and evening suffices against everything.

Tafsir

Surah Al-Ikhlas equals one third of the Quran because it summarizes the foundation of pure monotheism (Tawhid). It affirms that Allah is One, Eternal, without offspring or origin, and without equal. Reciting it three times in the morning provides complete protection and a reminder of the very essence of faith.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, from the evil of that which He created, and from the evil of darkness when it settles, and from the evil of the blowers in knots, and from the evil of an envier when he envies.

Tafsir

Surah Al-Falaq is a protective surah revealed to seek refuge in Allah from four types of evil: the evil of creation, the darkness of night, sorcery, and envy. Reciting it in the morning serves as a spiritual shield against the visible and invisible dangers of the day.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the Sovereign of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the retreating whisperer, who whispers in the breasts of mankind, from among the jinn and mankind.

Tafsir

Surah An-Nas seeks refuge in Allah as the Lord, King, and God of mankind from the retreating whisperer (Shaytan) who breathes evil into hearts. It protects against temptations and evil thoughts, whether from jinn or humans. Its morning recitation purifies the mind for the day ahead.

We have reached the morning and the dominion belongs to Allah. Praise be to Allah. There is no deity except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and to Him belongs praise, and He is over all things competent. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this day and the good of what comes after it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil of what comes after it. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the misery of old age. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from a punishment in the Hellfire and a punishment in the grave.
