In Times of Distress

In anguish and distress

1
Al-Bukhari (6346)

La ilaha illallahul-'Adhimul-Halim. La ilaha illallahu Rabbul-'Arshil-'Adhim. La ilaha illallahu Rabbus-samawati wa Rabbul-ardi wa Rabbul-'Arshil-Karim.

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Magnificent, the Forbearing. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Lord of the Magnificent Throne. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth, and Lord of the Noble Throne.

Virtue

The Prophet ﷺ used to say this supplication at times of distress.

Muslim (918)

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. Allahumma'-jurni fi musibati wakhluf li khayran minha.

Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it with something better.

Virtue

Whoever says this upon being afflicted, Allah will reward him and replace it with something better.
