Call to Prayer

When hearing the adhan

1
Al-Bukhari et Muslim (Al-Bukhari 611, Muslim 383)

One repeats the same words as the muezzin, except for 'Hayya 'alas-salah' and 'Hayya 'alal-falah' where one says: 'There is no power and no strength except with Allah.'

Virtue

Whoever repeats after the muezzin with sincerity of heart will enter Paradise.

Al-Bukhari (614)

Allahumma Rabba hadhihid-da'watit-tammah, was-salatil-qa'imah, ati Muhammadanil-wasilata wal-fadilah, wab'athhu maqaman mahmudanil-ladhi wa'adtah.

O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the prayer to be offered, grant Muhammad the Wasilah (the right of intercession) and superiority, and raise him to the praised station that You have promised him.

Virtue

Whoever says this supplication after the adhan, my intercession will be granted to him on the Day of Resurrection.

Abu Dawud (521)

Yad'u li-nafsihi baynal-adhani wal-iqamah, fa-innad-du'a'a baynahuma la yuradd.

One supplicates for oneself between the adhan and the iqamah, for the supplication made between them is not rejected.

Virtue

The Prophet ﷺ said: 'The supplication made between the adhan and the iqamah is not rejected.' The companions asked: 'What should we say?' He replied: 'Ask Allah for well-being in this world and the Hereafter.'
